1. Technology Vision Statement. As part of our grant submission for Lab 3 computers, we must create a Technology Vision Statement. In today's meeting, we brainstormed in the following areas.
What do we want to create?
empower the student in literacy & "real world" business
non-threatening, safe
build self-confidence in modern business environment
active learners, self-motivated
leverage resources more easily available thru computers & connectivity
make learning an enjoyable experience
lower difficulty of learning
continue to upgrade & update instruction/equipment.
How is technology going to affect services to our students?
increase scope
more options for teachers
more effective communicators
more flexible, more options
expand world knowledge
What long-term needs are we trying to address through techology?
outreach to community
keep plan going
If resource & training were not issues, what would be different?
Integration of curriculum with technology
Clean & efficient classroom environment
Use of wireless
Mobil van to teach classes in the community
Loan computers to students
Connections with business community
How will services change because of Technology Plan?
more flexible scheduling, based on students' needs
opportunity for new additional classroom activities
With these ideas in mind, the committee members worked on the wording of the Vision Statement. After listing key ideas and phrases, we assigned actual wordsmithing to Carolyn and Carolynn.
2. Software. We approved the following list of Software as technically useful and installable on our new computers. Separate approval is required for expenditures. Our intent is that software licenses cover all the new computers (approximately 50). All software will be installed on all the new lab computers.
Photoshop Elements 2.0
Frontpage 2002
Quicken 2003
MS Publisher 2002
Typing Master (English & Spanish)
MS Office 2000 (we can use the District's license)
3. Action Items.
Carolyn & Carolynn. Using ideas listed above, wordsmith final Vision Statement.
